The vinyl on the floor in the kitchen and the bathroom had obviously been cleaned with a dirty mop. Fortunately I had taken air fresheners with us which we had to use. The smell from the vacuum was horrendous and we had to keep all of the windows and doors open for a while to get rid of the smell. My husband found the vacuum which was all in bits and had to be put together and vacuumed the carpet. When we got into the lodge we noticed that the carpet was all wrinkled in the living room area as if furniture had been dragged around and it was filthy, it needed a good industrial clean. We arrived at the lodge and it took us a while to get in as the lock on the front wasn't the easiest to open. We booked a 'luxury lodge' and this was far from what we would call luxury! On arrival the receptionist gave us directions to our lodge, but that was it, no further information. They are building a new lodge to the rear or ours, so 8.30 Monday morning the hammering started, Tuesday 8.30 chainsaw, Wednesday hammering, Thursday 8.40 cement mixer. From 3 pm on both days they started partying in their hot tubs with very loud music blasting over the lake, at least they went quite by 11 pm!! Thought maybe Monday it would go quieter as these parties would only be for weekend. Both Saturday and sunday the lodges over the other side of the lake were taken over by what we think was probably a hen party. Singing, shouting, laughing etc till 4.30 Saturday morning, very inconsiderate. Friday evening the lodge behind us had a party, obviously friends had rented other cabins. It was EXTREMELY NOISY, was nice to come home for a bit of peace. Bed was very uncomfortable Went away fri-fri for what we thought would be a nice peaceful week, how wrong could we be. The carpet in the living area was filthy, very badly stained. All but 2 of the jets were blocked and the shower itself was mouldy round the seal at the bottom, a bit of bleach could have rectified that. Was looking forward to the all singing/all dancing Rainfall shower. Very small fridge with no bottle storage (broken). Lovely exterior, but certainly not luxury on the inside, more like basic. We cant wait to go back or another relaxing weekend. We would definitely recommend this log cabin to others who want a relaxing weekend or midweek break in the country. There is a small bar onsite that at night has a nice atmosphere created by regular attendees owner/residents and the drinks are decently priced. The bathroom contains a multifunctional shower which has built in radio and steam/sauna and to top it all a large hot tub is provided, situated directly in front of the log cabin overlooking the lake. A very comfortable lounge area complete with large flatscreen TV. the cabin consists of fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms (two of which are twin rooms and one double). All the creature comforts were available. On arrival the place was spotless, the owner had chosen well with regards the decor of the cabin, it was very quaint and cosy. She wasn't wrong as everything had been thought of for a pleasant hassle free stay. We booked we booked for the first weekend of October directly through the owner, who had great communication skills and was very pleasant and efficient to deal with, she told us that all we needed for the weekend was our food. Having previously visited Felmoor Park and having had a good experience staying in one of the lodges, we booked to stay in the Gingerbread Log Cabin.
